Adam's Health Journey

In March 2022 Adam was diagnosed with a Brain Tumor. In May of 2022, Adam had his first Surgery to remove the Tumor and get a biopsy on the tissue. On August 1, 2023, Adam had his second Surgery as the Tumor had begun to grow back. Adam has been off of work and will have to travel to Kansas City for six weeks to undergo Proton Therapy and chemo treatment. This will cause him to be off of work for several months. On top of normal household expenses, there will now be additional expenses for traveling to Kansas City for an extended period. That is on time for the expenses of traveling earlier to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Being on Long Term Disability at work and having his salary cut in half does not help with the everyday living expenses of the house, car payments, and other bills.

How we can make an impact for Adam

Due to his health issue, he had to give up playing. Speaking with his Brain Surgeon at Johns Hopkins, Adam stated that his recovery goal was to be able to play beer league hockey again. One of our goals at DAWG Nation is to make this happen. The hockey community will come together for Adam February 23rd-25th at the Steinberg Skating Rink in Forest Park. Jonny O's Winter Classic is an outdoor 4vs4 Outdoor Pond Hockey ice hockey tournament to help benefit the Dowling family.

Click here for more information on this event.

The Jonny O's tournament began in 2021 at the Affton Ice Rink to help DAWG Nation member Jon Orelt after he was tragically paralyzed in a freak accident in September 2020. Since then Jonny along with his team at DAWG Nation have put this event on to benefit others going through very difficult times. Participating, sponsoring, and volunteering at this event are crucial to help us accomplish our mission to help Adam and other future recipients.
Our board at DAWG Nation Hockey Foundation has approved a 3-1 match per dollar donated. Please consider helping this fellow hockey family during these challenging times.
